Beach tourism in Bali is not only Kuta, Sanur, Seminyak and Legian. For the creativity of the government, they created a new beach tourist destination, namely Pandawa Beach, which is located in Kutuh Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency.
From the center of Denpasar City, this beach which faces directly to the Indian Ocean is 18 kilometers away and can be reached in about 1 hour during the current Covid-19 pandemic. However, because of the beautiful scenery during the trip, without realizing the tourists have arrived at their destination.
Inaugurated on December 27, 2012, this beach was previously less well known and only became a secret beach for foreign tourists. The problem is that this beach is covered by limestone mountains. Because the local government is considered to have enough potential then build an access road by splitting the limestone mountains.
The results are amazing. After paying an entrance ticket of 8,000 rupiahs for adults and 4,000 rupiahs for children, as well as paying a parking fee of 2,000 for a motorbike or 5,000 rupiahs for a car at the gate, visitors are treated to winding roads and limestone cliffs on either side.
Now on the sidewalk on either side of the road with the background of limestone cliffs standing upright, it is usually used as a background for visitors’ selfies. Cekrek, tourists can share it on social media by geotagging “Pandawa Beach, Bali.”
This cliff continues to approach the beach. In the highest area, there is an inscription on the white color of Pandawa Beach. This is the background for the next selfie photo that is widely chosen.
The next selfie point is the writing of Pandawa Beach in red. From this point, with a height of approximately 100 meters, you will see views of white sandy beaches with the blue sea below. There is also a large parking area for visitors, as well as umbrellas and lounge chairs for tourists to take shelter.
At another point on the cliff are man-made caves with statues of the Pandava family, a story taken from the epic Mahabharata. Beginning with a statue of Dewi Kunti as the mother of the Pandavas, followed by her children, such as Yudhisthira, Bima, Arjuna, and the twins Nakula and Sadewa, to reinforce the name of this beach.
From the white Pandawa family statue area, you still need to descend about 60 meters to reach the beach. Furthermore, visitors need to walk a few meters to reach the shoreline with a length of 1 kilometer.
Enjoy the Facilities
One of the advantages of this beach despite facing the ocean is the calm water. The fierce southern sea waves have broken against the rocks at a distance of about 150 meters from the shoreline. The waves are usually used for surfing.
After trying to play in the water or trying out various facilities, visitors can rest on a lazy chair under an umbrella with a rent of 50 thousand per hour, while drinking young coconut. If you are hungry, you can continue by ordering various types of Balinese, Indonesian and western food.
For example, standard fried rice sells for 15,000 rupiahs, fresh fried chicken for 15,000 rupiahs, noodle soup for 15,000, and french fries 25,000 rupiahs. While grilled fish 80,000 rupiahs, grilled squid 50,000 rupiahs, fried shrimp 50,000 rupiahs.
Tourists who bring beach clothes can buy directly at souvenir shops. With calm waters, it’s a shame if you don’t try the various activities available.
The best way to enjoy Pandawa beach is in the morning or evening because it is not too hot. If you come in the afternoon, the bonus is you can enjoy the orange sunset sky if you are lucky.
Please also note that Pandawa Beach as a new destination is open from 08.00 – 19.00 WITA. But for those who are going to camp or enjoy the night atmosphere, permission from the authorities can be obtained
